The Right Adhesive Tape for Roofing Membranes and Facade Membranes
For a long-lasting, windproof, and rainproof building envelope, roofing and facade membranes must be properly sealed. For vapor-permeable roofing membranes, a tape with a strong acrylic adhesive designed specifically for such membranes is recommended. In edge or exposed areas, a UV-stabilized version is ideal to maintain adhesion and appearance under light exposure. For facade membranes, a UV-stabilized facade tape is suitable for partially open facades, while permanently exposed or highly weathered areas require a permanently UV-stable facade tape. The substrates should be dry, stable, and free of dust. The integrated tear-resistant liner facilitates controlled peeling, tension-free application, and full-surface adhesion.
When Do You Need a Nail Sealing Tape and Where Is It Applied?
Nail sealing tape seals nail and screw penetrations in the area of counter battens. It is placed along the batten line between the roofing membrane and the counter batten, applied to the back of the batten or in strips on the membrane, and laid continuously without interruption. When screwed, the tape is compressed so that water cannot seep into the roof structure along the fasteners. This ensures the roofing membrane remains resistant to driving rain, even under wind suction.
A nail sealing tape is always required when counter battens are fastened through a roofing membrane. It is particularly recommended for low roof pitches, exposed locations with high wind or rain loads, and wherever a watertight design is required. Its use reduces moisture ingress, protects the insulation, and increases the operational reliability and durability of the roof structure.
